Staff Economist (Litigation)

Christensen Associates is looking for a full-time Staff Economist to join our Madison, Wisconsin team. In this role, you will join a talented team of economic analysts to help tackle complex, real-world issues for litigation clients. You will assist senior staff with data processing, analysis, research, and document management while actively learning the litigation practice area, legal proceedings, different causes of action, and related damages. With the guidance of others, you will work on a variety of cases, including antitrust cases with hundreds of millions of dollars at issue, intellectual property matters, and many types of business disputes.

As a Staff Economist, you will:

  • Collect and transform raw data into meaningful statistics, information, and explanations.
  • Clean, analyze, interpret, and display data using multiple approaches and tools.
  • Assist in crafting discovery requests to acquire the data needed to answer client questions.
  • Conduct research on industries and markets as they relate to current litigation projects.
  • Assist senior team members in writing and reviewing reports.
  • Develop quantitative analyses and find creative solutions to complex problems.

To be successful in the Staff Economist position, you will need the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree with an emphasis in economics, finance, computer science, statistics, data analytics, or similar with a history of strong academic performance. We are open to hiring May 2025 graduates.
  • Knowledgeable in data analysis concepts (e.g., data cleaning, visualization, statistical modeling, etc.).
  • Proficient in software used for statistical analysis and data manipulation (e.g., Stata, SAS, Python, R, SQL, or similar) and the Microsoft Office Suite (including Excel).
  • Professional or academic experience conducting quantitative analysis, preferably in applied microeconomics contexts.
  • Analytically and technically minded with the aptitude, ability, and interest in solving complex problems and learning new things.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, and a rigorous attention to detail.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team in a deadline-driven environment while handling multiple competing priorities.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer. We are unable to sponsor (now or in the future) or take over sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g., F1 student visa, STEM OPT extension, H-1B, etc.).
  • Candidates must be willing and able to work out of our Madison, Wisconsin office. This is not a remote position.
