Economist/Senior Economist (Litigation)
Christensen Associates is looking for a full-time Economist or Senior Economist (depending on experience) to join our Madison, Wisconsin team of economic analysts that tackle complex, real-world issues for litigation clients. In this role, you will collect data from disparate sources, transform it into a usable format, and use it in models, analyses, and calculations. You will also create charts, tables, and other visual representations of analyses; perform quantitative and qualitative research; contribute to the production of expert reports and presentations; and manage projects, based on your experience and business need. Litigation projects include antitrust cases with hundreds of millions of dollars at issue, intellectual property matters, and many types of business disputes.
As an Economist/Senior Economist, you will:
- Collect and analyze data from disparate sources and transform it into a usable format. This involves cleaning, interpreting, and displaying data using multiple approaches and tools. Use the data/information in models, analysis, or client communications (e.g., presentations, memos, reports, conference calls, or testimony) as projects require.
- Develop quantitative and/or econometric analyses and find creative solutions to complex problems.
- Conduct research for litigation related topics to assist with current projects.
- Apply knowledge in various causes of action, legal processes and terminology, damages calculations, modeling, etc. to the projects you participate in and/or lead.
- Write and review reports or assist others in doing so.
- Communicate with clients and mentor team members as needed.
To be successful in the Economist/Senior Economist position, you will need the following qualifications:
- Master’s degree in economics, finance, data science, statistics, or similar with a history of strong academic performance. Equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered.
- 3-7+ years of progressively responsible work experience processing large data sets (e.g., data cleaning, visualization, aggregation, etc.), conducting quantitative and/or econometric analysis (preferably in applied microeconomics contexts), and managing projects and/or clients.
- Knowledge of or background in litigation projects and/or consulting is strongly preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of software used for statistical analysis and data manipulation (e.g., Stata, R, SAS, Python, SQL, Excel, or similar). Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Intermediate-to-advanced knowledge of data analysis concepts & techniques and economic/statistical modeling.
- Analytically and technically minded with the aptitude, ability, and interest in solving complex problems and learning new things.
- Strong business acumen, verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, and a rigorous attention to detail.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team in a deadline-driven environment while handling multiple competing priorities.
- Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer. We are unable to sponsor (now or in the future) or take over sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g., F1 student visa, STEM OPT extension, H-1B, etc.).
- Candidates must be willing and able to work out of our Madison, Wisconsin office. This is not a remote position.
