Carl Degen testifies for plaintiffs and defendants in a wide range of civil cases, most frequently on the calculation of damages related to intellectual property disputes. He has provided expert testimony in a variety of prominent cases including e2Interactive v. Blackhawk Network, Ricoh v. Pitney Bowes, Rentrop v. Spectranetics, Honeywell v. JVC, and MIDCO v. Elekta. His assignments have covered a wide range of technologies from computers and personal electronics to clothing.
Carl has also worked on numerous patent valuation assignments outside litigation for licensing and purchase. He has testified in other forms of complex litigation, including contract disputes heard by courts and arbitration panels as well as dealership cases. Carl has worked on numerous assignments for the U.S. Postal Service involving performance measurement, costing, and strategic planning, and has testified in six dockets before the U.S. Postal Regulatory Commission. He has also worked on several railroad industry assignments.
Carl joined Christensen Associates in 1978, and served as its president from 2005 to his retirement in 2022. Carl likes to read, travel, and cook.
